The beauty in dressing with intention
January 2026

Getting dressed is one of the first decisions we make each day, and somehow also one of the most overlooked. We treat it as a task to complete rather than a choice that means something. But even the most automatic outfit selection is communicating — to the world, and to ourselves.
I'm not talking about fashion in the aspirational sense. I'm talking about the small act of considering, each morning, who you are today and what you want to carry with you. Some days that means colour, and some days it means the most worn-in thing in the wardrobe. Both are valid. Both are intentional.
There's a version of this that becomes precious or self-conscious — where dressing well means performing some image. But the version I find meaningful is quieter than that. It's the feeling of putting something on and thinking: yes, this is right. This fits the day I'm about to have.
When what we wear matches something true about who we are or how we feel, it doesn't announce itself. It just sits right, and that feeling — that small, private alignment — is one of the simpler pleasures available to us. Worth paying attention to, I think.
